Review

For the series finale of her paranormal investigation TV show ‘The Wantland Files’ Kimberley has taken on the case of a family haunted by a spooky cat manifestation.

To add some spice to the mix Kimberley’s producer has invited celebrated sceptic Sterling Wakefield to join the fun as a one-off co-presenter. News which Ms Wantland is not pleased to hear.

What follows is a well written, character driven story that pitches Kimberley into a battle with the annoying, but strangely charismatic, Wakefield as he kicks off a spat on social media that threatens to damage Kimberley’s reputation.

Great main characters, a well-defined supporting cast and a fun plot make this one of those books you don’t want to put down as the Kimmy \ Sterling conflict starts to unfold.

Nicely balanced between the character relationships and the scary investigation with an ending that many readers will be hoping for, this is well worth the time invested in reading and I can’t wait to see where the Wantland Files go in the rest of the series.

The Author

Lara Bernhardt is a writer, editor, and audiobook narrator. She has written two novels, contributed the novella Cassandra to the Shine series, and narrated over a dozen audiobooks. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Balkan Press and also publishes a biannual literary magazine, Conclave. Lara lives in Oklahoma with her husband, author William Bernhardt, and their family

Favourite Books of 2023

With 2024 now nearly a week old, I thought I'd compile a list of my top ten books of 2023. Unfortunately I've not been able to whittle it down to just ten so I tried to make it my favourite ten authors. Once again I failed as there are so many great books I didn't want to leave out. Even so I've had to be harsh and leave out many that would've made last years list (what do you mean I didn't publish a list last year? Yeah, I know, I was too busy reading and writing reviews and I completely forgot) My list is composed of 15 authors and contains 42 books from a variety of genres (it could easily have been 60 books from the 400 I read last year (ok, some of those were quite short and I've not got much else to do) Lets get on with it I hear you yell, so without further ado and in no particular order, these were my favourite reads of 2023 Scratch that.
