Review

When Dotty decides to start her own gardening business she never thought she’d find a skeleton buried in the flowerbed on her very first job. Dotty teams up with her two best friends to solve the mystery.

An enjoyable prequel to the Dotty Drinkwater Cozy Mystery Series. The plot is interesting and the characters are fun.

Whilst this is a light and witty mystery novella it raises some serious points regarding unmarried pregnancy and the handling of mental illness in the past that gives the reader pause to think about how our fairly recent ancestors behaved.

I like the fact that the book is set in the UK as it is more relatable for a Brit but the occasional term may be confusing for a non UK reader in the same way that I sometimes struggle with American slang.

Overall this is a nice introduction to the world of Dotty and her friends which is continued in Dotty Dices With Death
