DaVinci is ready for a Bahamas vacay with her hunky Roman-soldier boyfriend Quintus, but trouble brews when Quintus Valerius hears slander against Julius Caesar and wants to go back in time to fix things.
Meanwhile, another physicist
is unlocking the secrets of time travel. When a trip to 1935 unites them along
with Walt Disney (and a photographer trailing Disney), things go sideways and
history is damaged. Now Quintus and DaVinci must patch up their differences and
race to restore things before Disneyland vanishes forever!
Review
Quintus is not a happy
Roman. Something has come to light that isn’t exactly kind to his hero’s
reputation and he and his girlfriend DaVinci need to travel back to 1935 to get
rid of the evidence.
Meanwhile Robert Duval is
building his own time machine in order to eradicate Disneyland from history
after he was banned from the House of Mouse as a child.
What follows is a fun
timey-whimey jaunt to 1930’s France where Quintus & DaVinci need to remove
the slanderous evidence against Caesar whilst trying not to change history for
ever.
Cidney Swanson has created
a collection of engaging characters and fun plots in the Thief In Time series
of which this is book #7.
Dropping the cast into the
middle of a trip by Walt Disney and his family to the south of France gives the
reader a chance to enjoy the plot whilst learning a few interesting facts about
the father of Mickey Mouse.
The plot races along and
delivers some twists along the way – we also see the development of a genius,
possible super villain, foil for DaVinci and the gang as the series progresses.
Robert may be a genius but is he also ‘Plane Crazy’. You’ll need to read the
book to find out
I found this great fun to
read and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys anything involving Time Travel,
History or Walt Disney
The Author
Cidney Swanson writes unforgettable contemporary characters who are genuinely shocked to find themselves thrown into perilous or Sci-Fi situations. Well, except for the heroine from Mars. Come on. How shocked could a Mars colonist be to find herself in Sci-Fi peril? After they (okay, *most of them*) get over their shock, they start kicking butt and taking names, and usually do some kissing along the way.
Cidney’s complex plotting and stick-with-you characters have resulted in a few nice awards, including a Kirkus Reviews annual Best of Young Adult/Teen and an SCBWI Spark Honor Book.
When she’s not
placing her characters in peril, Cidney can be found asking her husband, cats,
kids, and anyone else who will listen why it rains so much in Oregon’s
Willamette Valley.
