Review

Struggling to run his own restaurant and having just set fire (accidentally) to a food critic, Sanjiv really needs a break. Finding out that the world he lives in is not real and is just a simulation is probably not the break he was trying to catch.

Simon Carr sets his satirical writing skills on all things sci-fi and any resemblance to The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is purely intentional. From the depressed robot to the lead character in a dressing gown, S16 gives nods to Douglas Adam's seminal novel and is a fun read all the way through.

I think any writer who has ever read Misery should just avoid that poison apple myself, all you need to know is I am English and support Blackburn Rovers (BLAST!)

That does not mean I live in Blackburn; ok, I live in Blackburn but it's a big place, you will never find me, you weirdo!

I like knitting, collecting empty beer cans, and slapping dead birds just to make sure, I hope for world peace and an end to climate change, gender representative jelly babies, and fat people to get skinny really easily using just a DVD.

Favourite Books of 2023

With 2024 now nearly a week old, I thought I'd compile a list of my top ten books of 2023. Unfortunately I've not been able to whittle it down to just ten so I tried to make it my favourite ten authors. Once again I failed as there are so many great books I didn't want to leave out. Even so I've had to be harsh and leave out many that would've made last years list (what do you mean I didn't publish a list last year? Yeah, I know, I was too busy reading and writing reviews and I completely forgot) My list is composed of 15 authors and contains 42 books from a variety of genres (it could easily have been 60 books from the 400 I read last year (ok, some of those were quite short and I've not got much else to do) Lets get on with it I hear you yell, so without further ado and in no particular order, these were my favourite reads of 2023 Scratch that.
