When a gossip blogger joins a tour party along with victims of her malicious words, there can only be one outcome!

A river cruise from Amsterdam turns deadly.

When Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe embarks on her first river cruise with companions Rachel Prince and Sarah Bradshaw, she's not expecting murder for company! It's bad enough knowing there might be a murderer among their travelling party, but then Lady Marjorie finds herself saddled with a most unwelcome guest. Edna Parkinton, Marjorie's estranged cousin-in-law is loud, brash and tells it as it is. Marjorie can't wait to be shot of her. With Rachel and Sarah intent on enjoying a holiday for once, Marjorie decides to investigate a guest's suspicious death herself. Will she find the killer before the killer finds her?
Laugh out loud fun and mayhem, this prequel provides an appetising taster for the series to follow. Edna Parkinton is a welcome addition to Dawn Brookes's intriguing characters.

Review

Death of a Blogger is a novella designed to spin-off Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe into her own series after formerly appearing in the Rachel Prince Mysteries series.

Accompanied by Rachel and Sarah Bradshaw on her first ever river cruise the would-be sleuth is plunged into a murder investigation when one of the guests is pushed down the stairs at the hotel before they even set sail.

Because this is Marjorie’s chance to shine in her very own book series, Rachel & Sarah are just bit part characters and this gives a chance for Marge’s estranged cousin-in-law Edna who is booked on the same cruise to join the hunt for the murderer.

With a victim who has many enemies booked on the trip it is up to Marge & Edna to get to the truth.

This is a delightful cozy mystery and the interaction between Marjorie and Edna is a joy as the two explore their new found relationship whilst sharing a cabin (much to Marjorie’s annoyance)

The book sets up the Marge/Edna sleuthing due perfectly ready to plunge into the following titles in the series.

Witty, well written and fun, hopefully there are many further adventures for the quarrelsome twosome to come.

The Author

Award winning author, Dawn Brookes lives in Derbyshire, England and holds an MA in Creative Writing with Distinction. She is author of the Rachel Prince Mystery series, a hugely popular cozy mystery series combining a unique blend of murder, cruising and medicine with a touch of romance. Carlos is a PI and his sidekick is Fiona Cook, a troubled, but likeable detective sergeant. The Lady Marjorie Snellthorpe Mysteries begins with the prequel Death of a Blogger.

Ms Brookes has a 39 year nursing pedigree and has travelled extensively throughout her life. Nowadays, she loves cruise holidays and says she should do more for research purposes! Dawn brings her passion for cruises, animals and engaging characters along with a love of clean crime to her writing.

The surname of the Rachel Prince protagonist is in honour of her childhood dog, 'Prince', who used to put his head on her knee while she lost herself in books.

Dawn is also author of a series of memoirs. Hurry up Nurse: memoirs of nurse training in the 1970s, Hurry up Nurse 2: London calling and Hurry up Nurse 3. Dawn worked as a hospital nurse, midwife, district nurse and community matron across a thirty-nine year year career. Before turning her hand to writing for a living, she had multiple articles published in professional journals and co-edited a nurse textbook.

She grew up in Leicester where her second Carlos Jacobi Book is based, later moving to London and Berkshire but now lives in Derbyshire. Dawn holds a bachelors degree with honours in community health studies, a Masters degree in education as well as her MA in Creative Writing.

Writing across genres, Dawn also writes for children.

Dawn has a passion for nature and loves animals, especially dogs and there has rarely been a time in her life when she hasn't had a dog. Animals will continue to feature in her children's books as she believes caring for animals and nature helps children to become kinder human beings.
